When Chloe was born three months early, all her mum, Mechelle, wanted was to hold her baby girl in her arms. Instead, she watched in shock as Chloe was placed in an incubator, wired up to tubes, and put on a ventilator.
Born with a small lung, sepsis, and meningitis, Chloe’s condition was critical — and things were about to get even worse.
A Fight for Survival
Doctors discovered a deadly cyst blocking Chloe’s airway. She needed immediate surgery, but at just a few pounds in weight, she was far too tiny for the procedure. For seven agonising weeks, Mechelle could only hope her daughter would grow strong enough to survive.

Against all odds, Chloe became one of the smallest babies ever to undergo open surgery. She survived — but further tests revealed severe brain damage.
